[www.keralites.net] Thanks to IAS officer Kailash Chand Meena’s people-centric initiatives Sari Bags & Tea For Tree: This IAS Officer’s Ideas Are Transforming Jaisalmer!

Thanks to IAS officer Kailash Chand Meena's people-centric initiatives

Sari Bags & Tea For Tree: This IAS Officer's Ideas Are Transforming Jaisalmer!

Here are three of his notable initiatives thanks to which a much-needed transformation is slowly but steadily rolling in to the desert city of Jaisalmer.

1. Recycled Sari Bags

As a solution to Jaisalmer's escalating plastic waste problem, Meena kicked off a first-of-its-kind initiative on the World Environment Day 2017.. Under this, he urged residents to donate at least two old saris per household at designated places in the city as per their convenience. This would then be recycled into carry bags by various associations and trader.

Speaking to Times of India, the pro-active collector said that his idea was to resolve two major civic problems in one stroke — to prevent the rampant use of plastic products as well as stop stray cattle from consuming the hazardous waste.

2. Chai With Collector

On the same occasion of World Environment Day, Meena announced another unique initiative —plant a neem tree outside your house and get a tea-time date with the collector!  Urging the people of Jaisalmer to join him in making the city green and plastic-free, he asked them to take the oath of 'one house-one tree'.

3. Kanya Upvan

For instance, he frequently attends night chaupals at Village Seva Kendras to listen to the grievances and issues of villagers. This step is followed up by administrative action that effectively and efficiently resolves these issues.

During one such visit, Meena learnt about the plight of an eight-year-old girl whose parents had died a few years ago. The impoverished girl lived with her old grandmother who was finding it difficult to raise her. Deeply affected by what he heard, the IAS officer adopted the young girl, announcing that he would bear all her expenses (including education) till she attained the age of 18.

Not only this, he also discussed the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign with the locals and asked them to celebrate birth of girls by planting 10 saplings in the name of 'Kanya Upvan'!

[www.keralites.net] Some Facts on blood donation

 Some Facts on Blood Donation
An adult has about 5 liters of blood in the body.
Typically, about 300 ml (anywhere between 200 and 450 ml) of blood is taken by a blood bank (depending on requirement) from a person.
The blood donated is recouped by the body within 2 to 7 days.
One unit of blood (about 450 ml) helps save 3 lives.
This is because, the blood taken from a donor is separated into its components (Red cells, White cells, Plasma and Platelets), each of which can be transfused into the blood of a recipient, separately.
It takes approximately 10 minutes to remove one unit of blood from the donor . Including the time taken for filling up a form prior to donation, a physical examination (BP and weight) of the donor and the time to relax after donating blood, the whole process can be completed in about 45 minutes to an hour.
The blood removed from the donor is tested for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis, Malaria parasite and blood group. In other words, persons affected with diabetes and taking medicines to keep diabetes under control can also donate blood.
Whenever you donate blood, you will be removing excess cholesterol accumulated in the blood, thus reducing the chance of heart attack.
Take some biscuits / cake and coffee / tea / fruit juice, after donating blood and sit (lie down if you feel giddy) for about 5 to 10 minutes.
The donor can resume regular activities after about 30 minutes of donating blood. Avoid the following:
Climbing stairs within 30 minutes
Smoking
Every year, our nation requires about 4 crore units of blood while availability is 40 Lac units (estimates differ - another info states that requirement is 90 Lac units and availability is 40 Lac units; all the same, there is a definite shortage of blood in the country for saving lives) Donating blood is a safe process - a fresh needle is used for each person and there is no fear of contracting any disease. The no 1 reason given by donors to donate blood is "I want to help others". The two major reasons for a person not donating blood is "Never thought about it" and "I don't like needles" Persons from the age of 18 to the age of 60 can donate blood, except when they are affected with HIV +ve, cancer, Hepatitis B or C (within the previous 3 years), seizures, syphilis, and women during their menstruating cycle.

[www.keralites.net] Good Bye to Crow's Feet

Goodbye crow's feet! An at-home treatment that promises to zap laughter lines
Crow's feet — even the name of those tell-tale wrinkles at the side of our eyes is ugly, although the more optimistic of us like to refer to them as 'laughter lines'.
They appear when the skin loses collagen and hyaluronic acid, but one thing's for sure — those of us who have them don't find them funny.
'We lose 80 per cent of our natural hyaluronic acid between the ages of 40 and 80,' says cosmetic doctor Natalie Blakely.
Crow's feet appear when the skin loses collagen and hyaluronic acid
'We also lose collagen and elastin from the skin which is what makes us look older. The first place we lose fat from in the face is the undereye area and that, combined with the lines caused by smiling, laughing and squinting into the sun, is what causes those wrinkles to deepen as we age.'
So what's the solution? Botox can paralyse the muscles that crinkle when we grin but then having the injections can create a glassy 'frozen' look. Alternatively, fillers made of hyaluronic acid can be injected to plump up the skin in this sensitive area although, like Botox, they cost around £300 a go.
Now a new crow's feet treatment is causing a buzz. Launched this month in Harrods, WrinkleMD is a painless, needle-free £130 home device dubbed 'the crow's feet eraser'. It uses new technology to push molecules of hyaluronic acid deep into the skin, where previously only needles could reach.
Harrods, WrinkleMD is a painless, needle-free £130 anti-ageing home device
In a U.S. study led by dermatologist Dr Robert Harper, women aged between 35 and 65 used WrinkleMD for a month. Weekly silicone 'impressions' were taken of their crow's feet and, after four weeks, their lines had reduced by an average of 41.7 per cent — though it was 80 per cent in one case. This was compared to a control group testing a luxury eye serum whose wrinkles improved only 2.7 per cent.
The secret of WrinkleMD is a process called iontophoresis. It occurs when a mild electronic current is run through a disposable pad infused with hyaluronic acid and a muscle-relaxing peptide, pushing these particles deep into the skin.
Two 40-minute treatments a week are recommended for the first fortnight, then the eye pads should be worn once a week for another 40 minutes for the next fortnight. After this, the manufacturers recommend a weekly top-up treatment to maintain results.
The pack contains six pads and you can buy refills of eight for £99. So is it too good to be true? Dr Blakely, medical director of The Light Touch clinic in Surrey, says: 'Hyaluronic acid is great for skin rejuvenation and getting it into the skin without needles reduces the risk of infection.
'However, only 22 women completed the study — and the effects were variable. The treatment seems expensive and time-consuming, and there is little indication of how long the results will last.'
With Dr Blakely's warnings ringing in my ears, I try WrinkleMD myself. I'm 48 and my fine lines were deepening and creeping further around my face. I felt a fool wearing the eye pads at home, especially in front of my husband, and I was sceptical that any kind of magic was happening at all.
But I was very impressed by the results. I looked in my magnifying mirror after just one treatment and saw the lines on my left eye had vanished and the ones on my right had significantly faded. Even my husband agreed the pads had done something.
I've not had such instant results from anything else. Botox would probably last longer but this way my eyes look more natural. They still crinkle a bit when I smile, but the lines are virtually gone when I relax. So finally I have crow's feet I can live with — and laugh at.

[www.keralites.net] Husbands of Barkha Dutt

Husbands of Barkha Dutt
---- Forwarded Message -----
Barkha Dutt has problem with Hinduism ?
Barkha Dutt asked Hindu US representative Tulsi Gabbard that, are you going to stay as Hindu? What kind of Journalism is this? Why so much hate and Untouchability for Hinduism? Indirectly Barkha Dutt is asking Tulisi that when she is planning to convert to some other religion!
We never saw her asking this question to any other non Christian politician in the US or any non Hindu in her public life..du politician in India.
Most of the hardcore anti Hindu people took the most prominent places in Media, Bollywood etc and they keep spreading disinformation and hate against Hindus and brainwashing the younger generations against Hinduism and in general Indian culture and civilization!
Tulsi Gabbard came to cheer Modi in Madison Square in NewYork when Barkha started asking these questions to her.
---------------------------
Barkha Dutta - How did you come to know as Tusli? How did you come to be a practicing Hindu?
Tulsi Gabbard - My parents gave all five of us Hindu names..
Barkha Dutt - All five of you?
Tulsi Gabbard - I practice Hinduism. I practice Kram Yoga and Bhakti Yoga.
Barkha Dutt - Is it the religion you are going to stay with?
Tulsi Gabbard - This is the motivation for my life and this is the only way of life for me.
Barkha Dutt - Because this is very unusual because you are the only Hindu in the US congress!!! People like her are so pseudo secular bent on destroying the unity and integrity of India. Most of the hardcore anti Hindu people took the most prominent places in Media, Bollywood etc and they keep spreading disinformation and hate against Hindus and brainwashing the younger generations against Hinduism and in general Indian culture and civilization!

Barkha Dutt - Because this is very unusual because you are the only Hindu in the US congress!!! She and Rajdeep went to US with full planning to do negative campaign of #BJP#Hindu#NaMo and India as a whole. Every time these two speak about NaMo, they will start with 2002 riots. How audacious are they to keep pondering about an issue quashed by the #SC! Now he is the elected PM of this country. Does not matter how many % voted for BJP. Did anyone ask how many % of voters voted for Congress to rule for 10 years. I am happy Rajdeep got his dues in US, now its time for Barkha.
Family of Barkha Dutt
Barkha Dutt is the daughter of Mr. S. P Dutt and Prabha Dutt. Mr. Dutt was a senior official in Air India while Prabha Dutt was a well-known journalist. Prabha Dutt died at quite young age in 1984. At that time, she was working with The Hindustan Times. Before her death, Prabha had become the most famous female journalist of India. Her incisive reporting about various social issues was simply scintillating.

Barkha Dutt is the former Group Editor of NDTV. She has recently resigned from the post of the group editor to start her own multimedia content policy group company. However, she will be associated with NDTV group as a consulting editor.. She is widely considered as the most popular TV anchor of India. The on-the-spot reporting of Kargil War made her a household name in India. However, she is also quite controversial.
Her open support for Congress and now AAP has made a section of Indians against Barkha's style of journalism. She was also featured in Radia Tape controversy (which in turn is related to 2G scam). Similarly, the way she had reported Gujarat riots and Mumbai terror attack (26 November, 2008) made people think that she is nothing but theatrical and utterly irresponsible.
One thing that stretches imagination beyond any boundary is the fact that a journalist like Barkha Dutt is quite 'personal' when it comes to disclosing about her marital status. When her personal life was questioned in 2011 on Social Media, as her husband was linked to PDP, she vehemently opposed any move to intrude her privacy. That's quite fine, if you think rationally. We can question her professional life, not her personal one. However, this is the same rule that she doesn't follow in her professional life. She has, on many occasions, questioned the personal lives of many BJP leaders.
So, here we go. Barkha Dutt is married to a person who is linked to an anti-India organization.
When this article which reveals about the other side of Barkha's life started to get lots of eyeballs, Barkha decided to tweet. Here is what she has tweeted on 4th June, 2014:
Here's more. For the record I am not married. But if I were, whether to a Hindu or Muslim should be irrelevant. Bigoted crap !
Yes, Barkha it will be irrelevant. It is your personal life, and you are free to take whatever decisions you take. However, when the concerned person is allegedly linked with anti-Indian stuffs, you need to be questioned. Further, when you always goes a step ahead to say anything and everything against Hinduism, your marriage becomes a question.
And, Barkha needs to explain about Dabru. Her tweet was just an eyewash. It is said that the secret marriage of her with Dabru is over.
Here is some information about the marital status of Barkha Dutt. I have no intention to malign her and all these information are collection from the Internet. I can't assure that these are correct.
Barkha Dutt is married twice. And, co-incidentally, both of her husbands are Kashmiri Muslims. The name of her first husband was Mr. Mir. There is no information available in the public domain about the reason which compelled the couple to get separated. After divorcing Mir, Barkha Dutt married Haseeb Drabu. Mr. Drabu is now the Finance Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in the PDP-BJP Government headed by Mufti Mohammed Saeed. It is widely believed that Barkha Dutt was also involved behind the curtain in the discussion between the BJP and the PDP.
Dr. Haseeb Drabu is widely regarded as the best economist from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He was the Chairman of J and K Bank when Barkha proposed her.. Both started to date, and later married. He was sacked from his position in 2010 after an IB Report confirmed Mr. Drabu's close relations with Hurriyat hardliners and PDP. The report mentioned that Mr. Drabu was sharing confidential information of the bank with the two organizations. Now since that act of providing critical information to anti-India organization was mainly to sabotage Indian interests, he was sacked by the Omar Abdullah Government. Reportedly, he also anticipated a separate currency for Jammu and Kashmir terming it as 'Karra'. Next, he left Kashmir for Mumbai. (Source)
The First Husband of Barkha Dutt
The exact year of her marriage is unknown but it seems that she married and even divorced a Kashmiri Muslim who is known as 'Mir'. Nothing is much known about him except the fact that he is a Kashmiri Muslim. So, her first husband mostly remains a 'Mr. X' to all of us.. However, we have a pivotal information and that he was a certain 'Kashmiri Muslim'. Also, we have heard that this marriage lasted for only 6 months.
Reminds me of the term 'starter marriage' where the marriage leads to early divorce and the couple forgets 'it' completely as this type of marriage is seen as a form of groundwork for a successive, more lasting marriage with different partners, of course. Perhaps this is the reason why she never came out in the open as 'it' was just a starter marriage, you see!
Barkha Dutt's Second Husband Was Linked to Anti-India Organization
After divorcing Mir, it is said that Barkha started dating and even married the economist and Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Dr. Haseeb Drabu. Now since he was in the office from 2005 to 2010, it is most likely that she married him in these years. She was Haseeb Drabu third wife. We now hear the couple is divorced.
He is currently the Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister as he formally joined PDP last year and even won the 2015 election with a high margin. It is said that Drabu and Barkha Dutt were the people who negotiated with BJP from the PDP side.
