Why do people like to eat sweet after meals?
Generally Sugar fits into a category called Neurotoxins. These are substances such as refined sugar, salt etc. that are added to food and are specifically designed to make us addicted to it. Home Remedies for Anxiety
The discussion in this article is about certain home remedies that one can follow to get relief from Anxiety and stress.
Anxiety is painful or apprehensive uneasiness of mind used over an impending or anticipated illness. An abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physiological signs such as sweating, tension and increased pulse, and by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and also self doubt about one's capacity to cope with it.

For people with anxiety disorders, worry and fear are constant, overwhelming and can be crippling.
Symptoms: An unrealistic view of problems, restlessness, irritability, muscle tension, headaches, sweating, difficulty in concentrating, tiredness, dizziness, dry mouth, feeling of panic, soreness of mouth.
Home Remedies for Anxiety -
- Passiflower is a folk remedy for anxiety.
- Fennel relieves anxiety related gastrointestinal upsets, flatulence and abdominal tension. It has negligible side effects. Herbal supplements containing Fennel with other herbs which have a property to reduce anxiety should be advisable.
- Oats relaxes and strengthens the nervous system and is one of the best foods for nervous system.
- Boost your intake of vitamins. Take Magnesium, Calcium and B-Complex.
- Avoid junk food and drinks.
- Be optimistic and always try to remain relaxed.
- Orange juice with honey and with a pinch of nutmeg can help relieve anxiety.
- Take food which is low in sugar and contains a high dose of whole grains.
- Reduce use of artificial sweeteners in food.
- Read your favorite books.
- Lemon Balm is considered as a calming herb. It is a soothing and a calming agent for stressed nerves.
- Aromatherapy - Essential oils can immediately penetrate cell membrane and diffuse throughout the blood and tissues instantly. They cross the brain blood barrier in seconds reaching the amygdale and other limbic parts of the brain. The amygdale can also influence the hypothalamus. Amygdale is the emotional center of the brain. Anxiety originates from here. By inhaling essential oils one can minimize anxiety. For example one can use use Sandalwood oil. 
- Lavender is said to be most effective, Jasmine, Rose oils are also effective.
- Ashwagandha powder twice daily is advisable. But if the powder is not available take an Ashwagandha Herbal Supplement.
- Ginkgo biloba – Improves blood circulation in the brain and helps to elevate mood.
- Indian valerian calms the nerves. The root of this plant is always used in herbal products to help with anxiety. If powder is not available take Indian valerian Herbal Supplement. Based on research study, Valerian combined with lemon balm may help to treat mild to moderate cases of anxiety. Ref: University of Maryland Medical Center.
- Skull Cap helps to prevent panic attacks at night, so use one.
- Green tea: L-thiamine is an amino acid derived from green tea. Many herbal supplements contain the extract of green tea. Make sure that anti-anxiety formulas should contain more quantity of L-thiamine. Researchers state that L-thiamine is useful to treat anxiety produce during PMS.
